This privacy policy is applicable to the DogPulse app (hereinafter referred to as "Application") for Android and iPhone, which was developed by André Crous (hereinafter referred to as "Service Provider") as a Freemium service. This service is provided "AS IS".
The Application does not require registration. All data you enter, including dog profiles, daily health logs, weight records, photos, medications, and vet visit information, is stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to or accessible by the Service Provider, except for the data sent when you choose to use an AI feature (see the section on Artificial Intelligence below).
If device backup is turned on in your Android settings, Android may copy the Application's data to your own Google account and restore it when you set up a new phone. Google manages that copy under your Google account. The Service Provider does not receive it.
If iCloud Backup or a computer backup is turned on for your iPhone, iOS may include the Application's data in that backup. Apple manages that copy under your Apple account or on your computer. The Service Provider does not receive it.
The Application can use Firebase Analytics (a Google service) to collect usage data, such as which features are used and how often, to help improve the app. This is your choice. The first time you open a new installation of the Application, it asks whether you want to share anonymous usage data.
If you choose Share, the data collected includes a device identifier (the Firebase app instance ID), your anonymous purchase ID, general usage events (for example "paywall viewed" or "PDF generated") and counts such as the number of days you have logged. Google also derives your device model, operating system version and approximate region from your IP address. If you choose No thanks, the Application does not send these usage events. On Android, Firebase may still record a few basic automatic events, such as the app being opened, in the moments before you make your choice. If you installed DogPulse before this question was introduced, usage analytics stay on until you switch them off.
You can change your choice at any time in the Dogs tab under "Share usage analytics". The data you enter into the Application (dog profiles, dog names, health logs, notes, photos, etc.) is never part of this collection. You can find Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
The Application uses Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service) to receive crash and error reports. A report contains your device model, operating system version, app version, the screen where the error happened and technical details of the error. Crash reports are sent whatever you choose about usage analytics, and crash reporting cannot be switched off in the Application.
The Application uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat receives an anonymous purchase ID and your purchase and subscription status, and, only while analytics is on, the Firebase app instance ID. Payment is handled by Google Play on Android and by the App Store on iPhone. The Service Provider never sees your card details.
This Application does not gather precise information about the location of your mobile device.
If you use tick season alerts, the city or country you type in, and the coordinates found for it, are sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to look up the weather. No account or identifier is sent with this request. To stop these requests, turn off tick season alerts.
The Application uses Anthropic's Claude API to analyse dog health log data and generate pattern insights and vet visit briefs. This only happens when you tap an AI feature, and only after you have tapped Allow on a screen that explains what is sent and to whom. Until you tap Allow, nothing is sent. You can withdraw your permission at any time in the Dogs tab by turning off "AI insights data sharing". After that, nothing is sent until you allow it again.
When you ask for an insight or a brief, the request goes through a small proxy run by the Service Provider on Cloudflare, which checks your subscription with RevenueCat, applies daily limits and passes your dog's data on to Anthropic. The data is not linked to your name, email address or account, but it does include your dog's name and any text you typed yourself.
